Friendship Ministries has just freshened and updated this excellent resource. Although their publicity emphasizes that the book is for inclusion of children with Autism into a church's ministry, the model for ministry described in the book will help churches include children and adults with many different disabilities into their educational ministry. Not only does the site give a good introduction to Deaf culture for ministry leadership, DOOR produces materials for Deaf ministry. Read more »

"THROUGH DEAF EYES is a two-hour HDTV documentary that explores 200 years of Deaf life in America." Though not produced from a religious perspective, it gives ministry leaders a good understanding of Deaf history, culture, and language. Read more »

Last Saturday I attended a Disability Concerns conference in Kitchener, Ontario, called, “Helping People Include People.” The featured speaker, Barbara Newman, did a wonderful job helping those in attendance with great ideas for including people with disabilities in the full life of the church. Dedicated to individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and those who work alongside them to improve mutual understanding, the Gray Center approaches the social impairment in ASD as a shared impairment. They work to improve social understanding on both sides of the social equation, helping individuals with ASD to communicate and interact more successfully with the people with whom they live and work. Friendship Ministries/Friendship Ministries Canada is an interdenominational ministry whose mission is to share God's love with people who have cognitive impairments and to enable them to become an active part of God's family. Over 800 Friendship groups use their resources for one on one ministry. Resources are available in Spanish as well at Ministerio Amistad.  Read more »

The Christian Learning Center (CLC) provides an array of services to individuals who have disabilities and unique gifts, and to their families. Their Church Services Division offers consultation and print resources specific to inclusion of people with disabilities in faith communities. While its origin is in the Christian School community of West Michigan, CLC serves individuals, families, schools and churches around North America. Read more »
