There are often so many opportunities for learning and professional growth that it can be hard to know which ones to take advantage of. Here are two that are worth considering if you live in the Midwest.
- Last fall I attended a workshop about the new book Growing Young led by Jake Mulder, a PhD student at Fuller Seminary. Mulder walked us through the latest research from the Fuller Youth Institute. While the research is focused on youth and young adults, it has implications for adult and children’s ministry. But don’t just take my word for it, read this review by Lesli VanMilligan. Mulder will be leading this workshop again at the Growing Young Conference in Kalamazoo, MI on Saturday, January 21 at Southern Heights Church (4141 East Hillandale, Kalamazoo, MI 49008).
- Millwood Christian Reformed Church (3306 Lovers Lane) in Kalamazoo is hosting a Coffee Break Leadership Training on Thursday, January 5. This training is a hands-on learning experience that equips leaders to facilitate conversations about the text so that people can discover for themselves what the Bible says and means. The training will be facilitated by Sam Huizenga, the Discipleship and Coffee Break Catalytic Leader for Home Missions.
