Advent is about Hope

We wait in hope for the LORD;
   he is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice,
   for we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love be with us, LORD,
   even as we put our hope in you.
(Psalm 33:20-22, NIV)

Hope. It’s at the heart of Advent.

Hope keeps us going when things go wrong, when we have to wait.

We don’t need hope when life goes well. We need hope when we long for life to be different.

Psalm 33 assures us that God will be faithful in the future as he has been in the past. When we hope, we join with God’s people throughout the ages in placing our future with him. God holds firmly in his hand the future of each Christian and the future of the church.

Hope keeps us going.

Hope gives us confidence that each day has a point.

Hope encourages us in our work of advocacy.

Hope promises a magnificent future for everyone who is in Jesus Christ.

May God fill you with hope this Advent season.
