Muslim Ministry Conference
Is it time for God’s church in North America to wake up to a new reality? A large unreached population is present right in our midst, right now - our Muslim neighbors.
In the book of Esther, Mordecai challenges Esther to take action because “who knows that you have come into your royal position for a time such as this?” Though he is not mentioned, God is clearly at work at that time and in that place.
At our upcoming Salaam Project Conference on April 28 from 8am – 12pm at Calvin CRC, Grand Rapids, MI, we are going to discuss why this is the time and the place for God’s church in North America to wake up to our new reality – the presence of a large unreached population right in our midst – our Muslim neighbors.
For a number of years now, the 10/40 window, that band of countries across the middle of the globe where the majority of people had not yet heard the gospel, has been the recipient of attention for prayer and mission mobilization. Now the 10/40 window has come to us. Muslims themselves now claim there are around 12 million followers of Islam in North America. Are we prepared? Have we learned enough about Islam to engage with our Muslim neighbor in a sensitive, honest and friendly way? Do we have the tools to talk about our faith in Jesus with them?
These are the issues we plan to discuss at the Salaam Project Conference. We hope to give people an opportunity to learn about the Islamic faith and become better prepared to share our lives and our faith with our Islamic friends. We will look at some different issues: God and Allah, are they the same? Christian and Muslim views of Jesus; educational curricula; as well as some practical examples from a North American ministry to a Muslim people group. We invite all who wish to learn more about Islam and desire to be equipped to engage with followers of Islam to our conference. You can find more information at www.crwm.org/spconference.
