New 'Webinar Wednesdays'
We started this Network website so we could all learn and connect with each other about ministry. Newbie deacons getting tips from those who have been around the block, worship leaders swapping ideas, techies talking tech, treasurers talking turkey, and so on.
Now, we’re adding another way to learn and connect with each other....webinars.
For all the details, read this story posted in the CRC Newsroom. But here are some excerpts if you’re feeling too lazy to click :-)
Informally dubbed “Webinar Wednesdays”, the webinars begin at noon EST on most Wednesdays throughout the winter and spring months. “But that’s the starting point,” says Tim Postuma, Web Manager for CRC Communications. “We’ll see how these go and then adjust or add more timeslots based on demand.”
Webinars are seminars that are hosted online. To participate, a person needs a computer with headphones or speakers. All of the events will run one hour or less and are free for anyone to attend.
Several CRC ministries have offered webinars in the past, but now they’ll be available in one place - www.crcna.org/webinars. “And we’re pulling in presenters of some of the most popular workshops at the Days of Encouragement and other regional conferences,” says Larry Hoogerhyde, a volunteer who is helping assemble the lineup.
Once registered, attendees receive an email with a link to click shortly before the webinar begins. During the webinar, participants hear the presenter’s voice through their headphones or computer speakers. At the same time, they can watch the presenter’s slides appear on their computer screen.
Webinars are also interactive. During the live event, participants can type in questions and respond to quick polls that will appear on screen. “The presenter can ask for a show of hands, or open the floor for questions,” says Postuma. “It’s not quite the same as attending a workshop in person, but it’s surprisingly close.”
“And with no travel required, we can make these workshops available to every corner of the denomination.”
The easy address to remember is www.crcna.org/webinars But, as you can tell, that link brings you here to The Network. That’s because both the website and these webinars are about learning together. One’s in real-time, and the other is available anytime day or night.
We’ll also be posting the archives here on The Network. That way participants can add comments and keep the discussion going after the event is over. And so those who weren’t able to join the live event can watch it and get in on the conversation.
So check out www.crcna.org/webinars and get registered. See you online....now, also in real-time.
