It was several years ago that I thought to focus my sabbatical on the work of Henri Nouwen. I had acquired a variety of his books through my years of ministry and had even heard him speak once at Redeemer University College in Ancaster Ontario. In reading the different books I always felt that it would need a more concentrated effort on my part to truly engage his thought and work it into my spiritual life.

Now for this course I have added several other books by Nouwen as well as the work of Wil Hernandez. I am excited to work through them all in a systematic way. I have also reserved some time at L'Arche Daybreak in Toronto where Nouwen was Spiritual Director for the final ten years of his life. His home, The Cedars, is available for people to spend some time and reflect on spiritual things. All in all I feel things are coming together well for a profitable and encouraging sabbatical.
