Just say 'Hello' (sweet prize involved!)
Hello.
I already have a Network mug (and it's become my mug of choice at home), but I still wanted to "feel awesome." It's been a while.
Invoking random number generator...and the winner is...
Congratulations, you are now the owner of that Network mug. We can't imagine a more worthy recipient. 4 posts on The Network? Nice.
Use it proudly for after-church coffee and maybe that will kick some of your fellow church members into gear and using The Network. Yeah, I'm talkin' to you Crossroads CRC in San Marcos, CA! You who left Rebecca all alone in her "My Church" listing. It brings a tear to the eye.
Tell you what...if Rebecca's "My Church" count gets up to 10 people within 2 weeks we'll send you a second Network mug for the whole church to share from week to week. If that's not major incentive to sign up, I don't know what is.
Either way, Rebecca, you're getting your very own Network mug. Use it well. Maybe send us a picture of it in its new home.
Now if we can just get it shipped to you in one piece. Time to find some bubble wrap...
Well that didn't take long! 4 days? Over a long weekend? Now I wish I would have asked for 25.
Crossroads CRC - you rock! And I've since learned that fast/cheap internet access is difficult to come by in your particular area, making your feat all the more impressive!
We hope to deliver your second mug IN PERSON to your pastor at next week's Synod. That way we can dodge all responsibility for delivering it to California in one piece. Plus we can snap a photo of him with the prize. Maybe we can get it printed in The Banner (yeah, DeMoor, I'm talking to you!).
Seeing how quickly your "My Church" listing jumped from one person to 12 has got me thinking... are there any other churches up to a challenge?

Click the "My Church" link at the top of any Network page to see how your own church stacks up to Crossroads CRC's 12 people.
Tell you what...we'll give one more super-awesome Network mug to the church with the most people in their "My Church" listing by the time Synod begins on June 12. Think about how fantastic it would look in your council room. Or shining like a beacon amidst all the plain-'ol mugs during after-church coffee. Here are some tips for how you can spread the word.
So now everyone can play. Which church will take the prize mug on the opening day of Synod?
Game on!
Whoops. We forgot to tell Rebecca L that the mug is the glue-it-yourself puzzle type. Check out this photo she sent us after the package arrived:

Fortunately, we also have the normal, all-in-one-piece variety here in the office. I could have sworn that was the type we put in that box and mailed, but I guess not. Or she's just gaming the system to get two mugs.
A quick update on our latest contest...
Rebecca's church - Crossroads CRC in San Marco, CA - must be having fun with this whole thing because their "My Church" count is now at 24 members!
What's your "My Church" count? Click the link at the top of any page to find out.
There's still time to beat Crossroads CRC, but you'll need to act fast. Send an email out to your church, asking people to sign up on The Network. As we mentioned before, the church with the highest "My Church" count on Synod's opening day wins a mug (intact or puzzle type - your choice)!
That's Saturday, so hurry and send out that email. A "My Church" count of 24 is good, but it's beatable. With one, well-crafted email to your congregation you could take bragging rights away from Crossroads CRC. Who's going to give it a shot?
Even if you don't win the mug, you'll be helping to spread the word about The Network and connecting churches in new ways for ministry!
Thanks to everyone who's participated in this thread. A news story has been posted about it all. Here's the link:
Saturday is the end of our latest mug challenge. Then the fun's over and we get all serious-like for Synod.
Unless anyone has ideas for an encore challenge? Hmmmm. We do have a few more mugs...
We've got another mug winner...and a new challenge to unseat Crossroads CRC as the church with the most Network members.
Check out this new post with all the details and stop by Linda's profile to wish her congratulations. She also happens to be a brand new member of her local CRC - double-reason to stop by and say congrats!

Note: This discussion thread has taken on a life of its own. If you don't want to read dozens of posts, here's a handy summary of how it's all gone down:
Now here's the original post...
Today is the day.
Yup, it's time. Time to post your first comment on The Network.
We're making it easy for you - all you've gotta do is say 'Hello". Tell you what...you can even just say "Hi". We'll take either.
You see, websites like this are best when everyone participates. But sometimes taking that first step is daunting. I know, and there's plenty of sites where I don't comment either. I like what I get from the site, I just haven't had the need, or the confidence, or the time to give back and participate.
So that's why we're making this super-duper easy. Just:
BONUS: we're giving away a prize!
From all the comments in reply to this post, we'll randomly select one
luckyprovidentially-blessed person to get...drumroll...an official Network mug! These limited-edition mugs are not available in stores or on eBay. The only people that have received them are the Network Guides...and soon, if you are chosen, you!But first you need to say "Hello". Please follow those 3 little steps above.
Thank you.
P.S. After you've said 'Hello", tell your friends to do the same. Sure, it'll reduce your chances of winning that fantastic mug, but that selfless act is for the greater good. Here's how you can spread the word about The Network.
