When I meet with a group of pastors and congregational mission leaders I often ask how many have participated in a webinar. Typically, about two in ten have done so. I expect that five years from now every hand will go up. Webinars offer a remarkable opportunity to communicate information and create an interactive community in which geography is irrelevant. The way it works is that the presenter and participants are connected by a conference call for audio and all of them see the PowerPoint or video that the presenter chooses on their own computer screens via the Internet. Participants can type in questions or comments to the presenter. Polls and open discussion can also be part of the webinar experience.

Christian Reformed World Missions and CRWRC have been experimenting with webinars over the last year or so. Beginning September 22, there will be a series of webinars whose presenters come with a variety of expertise, but under the heading of Global Mission. They will be offered about every other Wednesday. Some will be at noon Eastern, others at 7:30 p.m. All of them will be recorded and posted on our website for later viewing. By using the internet and an 800 number, you can engage in this learning community free.

I hope that you will click here to see the listing of webinars for this fall and decide which of them you will participate in. Happy webinaring!
