I treasure the three marks of the true Church 1. Faithful preaching of God's Word. 1. Proper administration of the sacraments (so far) and 3. The exercise of biblical discipline.

For me it's GRACE.
I am so thankful that we are taught that we don't have to worry - our salvation is God's gift to us. I once saw a t.v. bio of Mohammed Ali and his wife explained that Ali signed and sent out hundreds of glossy photos of himself as a way to get into heaven, it was his way of working and earning his salvation. I felt so bad for him.
How blessed are we that we know that God has chosen us, and that all the good we try to do is out of thankfulness for the love God has for us, not to try to earn his favor.
Our only comfort in life and death is that we belong to him, body & soul. We don't earn it. We have it. It's his gift. He loves us no matter what.
Thank you, God, for grace.
I treasure a tradition with strong themes of piety, justice, and doctrine. I treasure a church that takes the Bible seriously. I treasure our ethnic history, and our attempts to get beyond it. I treasure an emphasis on training the young. I treasure preachers and pastors who take their biblical roles with serious responsibility.
God's covenant faithfulness, and His decision to make us in His image and then stick with this plan to build His Kingdom through His people, despite all our best efforts to put Him off!
