The Network is pleased to announce a new network: Synod 2011. Your guide to Synod 2011 is the Rev. George Vander Weit, who served four congregations in Ohio and Michigan before retiring in 2008. He and Bonnie now call Rochester, Michigan, their home. George is well known to the church as a...

Not many in our church are registered. In my experience as an elder, not many of our members are aware of denominational agencies and activities. I think it may be necessary for someone to visit the churches and/or church meetings such as congregational and classis meetings and talke about the...

At church this morning, two people separately came up to me and said how much they love The Network. I never get tired of hearing that :-)

But then I asked the question I always ask: "Have you added any comments or questions?"

In both cases, they hadn't. They love reading the...

I don't necessarily want/need to add my picture, but I don't like the 88% complete staring me in the face either.  But there seems to be no obvious way to add a picture in order to complete my profile and line up to win the prize.

That quiz is way too hard and time-consuming for a person of limited zeal as myself, but as a regular user of the Network I still want one of those mugs. Bill me.

It's the 4th Monday of January. What does that mean? It's "Community Manager Appreciation Day", of course!

All right, this isn't one of the more well known days. Your calendar may not won't list it. And your local store may not won't carry cards for it. In fact, you might be wondering......

I have been organist at our church for 40 years, add eight more in Holland, about 35 of these years it was organ only, things started to change when the Praise team came into the picture. For about ten years we were "legally" separated, they had their once monthly service, the organists did the...

We've been busy adding new features. Well, more accurately, Chris - our web developer - has been busy adding new features.Maybe you've imagined a team of programmers behind the scenes making this Network website happen. Nope. It's just Chris working one day per week for The Network. But he's getting a lot done in that one day.

Here's my question, and I couldn't figure out where to ask it.

I'm interested in resources and ideas to help us do better at our greeting and ushering ministries. Where should this go?

At the end of August, a diverse group of 30 young adults gathered to discuss the CRC, its future, and the role of young people in our denomination. You can read more about it in the recent Banner articleConnecting the Church with Young Adults.

We'll have 'save draft' functionality for posts, but I don't think we can do that for comments. But I'll check again. Thanks for the suggestion.

Will you be able to save, edit and continue writing comments before posting?  Several times I have been writing, accidentally hit a wrong key and the entire comment disappeard.

Great to hear! Can't wait.

These are two wonderful new forums. Thank you!

This is a GREAT idea! Glad to see the Network expanding in this way.

Thanks Geri.  We love hearing that The Network is a benefit to folks.

I love the NETWORK. So many helpful articles regarding ministry in the church.
AND... I successfully RE-sourced a church in need of a VBS curriculum after posting a list of curriculum we had available.

Keep up the good work!

You bet!

Does that mean that if I am already subscribed I'm automatically eligible for the draw for one of your great mugs?

Any subscriber - whether they're new or have been getting the email for a long time. We didn't want our loyal subscribers to miss out, so we're just planning to pull 5 names randomly from the list.

You confused me; looked like this was for new subscribers, but then another post with "if you're subscribed."

So  who is this really for?

Well said, Pete.  And I'm glad it prompted you to comment. :-)

For the Network to be effective, comments should be made out of genuine interest in learning and sharing learnings, not out of interest in mugging or increasing one's acquisitional prowess.

What this invites is a devaluing of the currency of comments.

This particular comment may not be taken as being elligible for a mug or gift card in order to keep its value as having been contributed out of healthy motives, such as the provocation of some deeper reflection on what is really being done in the context of this contested contest. Nor, if it is selected as a winner anyway, the merchandise my never be contributed to anyone else in lieu of my lack of acceptance. May you end up with a warehouse full of mugs and gift cards, and a Network filled with deep thoughtful information!

Pete VanderBeek

Congrats to our winners: Craig, Thad, and Timothy.  Thanks to all of you who just said 'hi'  If you didn’t win, no worries. Because now there’s a new way to get one of those limited-edition, can’t-buy-it-in-stores Network mugs (and a $25 Amazon gift card. Participate in the “Just Post a Comment” challenge for March.

Hi! Nice Mug but the Amazon option will work better for me!

Hey Jacci, I saw your comment, e-mail me at disabilityconcerns@crcna.org to discuss the info you're looking for. Mark

Hi!

Hi.

One question: Where can I get funds to help my church upgrade its worship space and make our old building handicap accessible?

Hi.  That mug would look great on my desk!

I think it is fine to say that it is a COVETED prize as long as it is not the MOST COVETED prize. That would be Jesus. And you might want to consider another word other than COVETED. There are others that mean the same thing but don't violate the language of the Ten Commandments. Your friend, the Pharisee.

Hi

Hi.  Thanks for all the helpful info!
