We are excited to welcome Eric Kas as the new Safe Church Associate! He is excited to partner with you all as we strive for safe spaces in our churches.

Here are some words of introduction from Eric:

I am currently in the early stages of a new church plant called Good News Gatherings. I am intentionally pursuing this new church plant bi-vocationally and look forward to supplementing the church plant work with this new opportunity with Safe Church Ministry. Our mission as a new church is to encourage, equip and empower people to be disciples of Jesus and make disciples where we live, work and play. You can read a bit more about the ministry at GNGchurch.com. That being said, much of my role as a church planter is coaching and equipping those in our community to live out the life that God is calling them to.

Similar to my role as a church planter, I hope to come alongside many of you as a Safe Church Associate to cultivate safe spaces in our communities. I believe God is continuing to raise up leaders in the church to be shepherds — specifically to protect the flock.  I believe Safe Church Ministry is on the front lines of this shepherding work and it is a vital part of God’s mission of making all things new. That being said, I am looking forward to meeting many of you, hearing your stories, and joining you all as we seek to equip communities in abuse awareness, prevention and response.

In addition, here are a few more things you might want to know about me:

My wife and I have a son who is 5 months old, a dog who is a lab mixed with a poodle, and we live on the southeast side of Grand Rapids. We are still getting used to the rhythm of parenthood, but we love to go hiking, camping and adventuring outdoors. We also love the sport of Ultimate Frisbee and you can often find us organizing games and leagues through the community organization: GrandRapidsUltimate.org. We also love playing new sports and experiencing new hobbies!

I look forward to connecting with you in the future!
