I was flipping through a worship magazine and ran across an article entitled “To Learn about Our Church, Watch Us Worship”. Truth be told I ran out of time at that moment and never have read the article but the title stays with me.

The practice of worship says much about who we are as a community, what we believe, and what we value. For many people the only experience they ever have of a church is the worship service. For those searching the first place they connect with your church is usually the worship service. This has caused me to pause and reflect on what my church’s worship says about us, about our values and beliefs.

So let me ask, if someone were to visit your worship service what would they learn about your church?

Consider reflecting on that question with your church’s leadership body or worship committee/planning team. Then ask that same question of a group of young adults, youth, and seniors and note any differences as well as agreements between different subgroups within your church.
