We are in moments of transition within the Christian Reformed Church. With so many moving parts happening surrounding structure and culture, (i.e. 5 streams, Faith Formation ministries, new directors, Home/World missions, etc.) everything feels a little, oh I don’t know, messy.

We in the Youth Ministry section hope to experiment in the messiness for a while.

The recent Canadian Youth Ministry pilot project (headed up by myself and Syd Hielema beginning on April 1, 2015) has embarked on a few initiatives to help find ways to support the local church. One of these ways is through a series of webinars aimed at tackling topics connected to those serving in the trenches. The first two webinars are linked here:

Following each webinar, the Youth Ministry blog team (made up of seasoned youth people) will look to build on the topics presented. For example, a number of writers for the next few weeks will add to the content of the “teaching and resources” topic. They might do this by,

  • Taking one of the recommended resources and speak into it further
  • Addressing a question that may have come up from that particular webinar
  • Adding additional items that may have been missed
  • Elaborating more deeply into topics

If you haven’t yet taken in the new series of webinars, we encourage you to do so. If you have, we hope you have found them to be helpful. Either way, we hope you will stay tuned to the Youth Ministry blog site on the Network for more “building into ministry” conversations.

The date of the next Youth Ministry webinar is October 20th. Mark it on your calendar.

We look forward to the next few months of experimentation!
