Youth Pastors especially can use a good laugh once and a while. Woody Allen once said this….. “I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose.” In this case I hope that milk does come out of your nose—it’s a sign of a good belly aching laugh. We all need it once and a while!

Here is a definition of laughter:

"Laughter is an audible expression of happiness, or an inward feeling of joy. It may ensue from hearing a joke, being tickled, or other stimuli. It is in most cases a very pleasant sensation…" or in this case it is brought on by watching The Chair skit from the Skit Guys.

Most of our work as youth pastors isn't nearly as gratifying as the last few moments of this skit. It's challenging work made up of continuous interactions with youth, parents, pastors, council members and our own families. It can be long, dark nights of the soul wondering if the work we do is making any difference at all...

But for the next 15 minutes give yourself permission to let it all loose and just laugh—it's great soul care!

It’s time to laugh friends—go for it!
