Usually church meetings begin and end with prayer but do not have a focus on prayer. Yet prayer is the way we communicate with God. Shouldn't our church meetings, even business meetings, incorporate prayer throughout the meeting? Especially at Classis meetings, it often seems so easy to forget about prayer when absorbed in the agenda. We want to get things done and decisions made. How does prayer fit in with our agenda? This article, Ideas for Praying at Classis gives some guidelines about how to intentionally incorporate prayer at Classis meetings.

In Classis Toronto, one thing we do to incorporate prayer more intentionally is: at points throughout the day have two or three churches share joys and concerns in the large group and then have a time of prayer for those churches. Usually one person prays for these churches in front of the larger group but perhaps we should do something different and pray in small groups for these churches.

How does your Classis incorporate prayer into its meetings? What is the effect of prayer in your meetings?
