I started using the Zondervan Church and Nonprofit Tax & Financial Guide by Dan Busby a few years back. I just ordered the 2011 edition for 2010 tax returns and received it from Amazon. I recommend that every US church own this book as a resource for their church treasurer, administrator, and/or bookkeeper. Are you completing your W-2 for your pastor correctly? Does your church report charitable gifts according to regulations? How are you handling moving expenses? Do you have guidelines for handling your offerings? Would you like to see a sample Benevolence Fund Policy?
Several of the samples on the CRC website "Church Finance and Administration Resources" started with reading and following the information in this book. The 2011 edition also has a section entitled "Recent Developments." This section includes information on the Minister's housing allowance challenge and health care reform. Check it out and let us know what you have valued from this informative book.
