The Ministry of International Student Fellowship:
International Student Fellowship is a registered campus ministry at Western Michigan University. It is a ministry of the Christian Reformed and Reformed Churches. The ministry makes its initial contact with students by providing a space where they can experience God’s grace. It does this by providing a weekly International lunch, attended by 150 to 175 students. International students come to WMU from over 100 countries and we believe through the years we have ministered to students from well over 80 countries. We estimate that only between 5 to 10% of International students at WMU are Christians. God has brought the world to our doorstep. In a very real way our ministry is the hands and feet of Jesus for International students at WMU.
The International Lunch is our place of contact, but we seek to build trust relationships so that students will be receptive to the gospel of Jesus Christ. We continue to meet with students through one on one relationships, classes like Christianity Explored, American Culture, mentoring, coaching, and discipleship. Our ultimate goal is “… to develop International ‘influencers’ for Christ.”
Invitation to Explore Your Interest in this Ministry
In the latest evaluation of the ministry, our Governance Team felt that it would be best to have both a male and a female campus pastor to serve this ministry. The concept is that each would begin at a half time level with the potential to raise the funds to move to full time. In January 2016 we hired a female campus pastor. We are now looking for the second campus pastor, preferably male, to complete our team. If you would like more information about the International Ministry at WMU and explore whether this position may be a right for you, please contact us at email@example.com
