This paper, that comes in pdf form, was referenced in the 2013 Diakonia Remixed Report that led to the seating of deacons at all the CRCNA assemblies in 2015. The paper specifically looks at the following four things: 

  1. How Calvin understood the office of deacon from a biblical perspective.
  2. How Calvin instituted the office in Geneva.
  3. An evaluation of how well practice met polity in that context.
  4. Implications for the Diaconate of today
