Do church planting principles work when trying to grow an established church?

I've noticed that there isn't a section here in the Network for church growth. I've been doing some volunteer work with my church doing church growth by using some of the same principles as church planting. There has been some good results. Out of curiosity, what other ideas are out there to help reach the community and reach out to those who are away from God, nominal Christians or even those who've been burnt by a church in the past? I'm always trying to find good ideas on helping to increase the church and add to it.

Interesting that we just talked about this at our council meeting last night. We had hoped to plant a church in our area, but because of a series of unfortunate events, the plan fell through. Still, we want to extend our mission and are excited about doing that through our established church. We'd love to hear more stories or ideas.
