Maranatha Christian Reformed Church in Belleville, Ontario is seeking a Lead Pastor as we move into the next chapter of “Building God’s Kingdom Together." During this transition and waiting period, the Lord has reduced our staff through retirement and/or launching them into new places of ministry. The door is open for a new collaborative team to be formed, beginning with the Lead Pastor. Does your vision include building and being a part of a leadership team that is much more than the sum of its individual parts and is dedicated to “Building God’s Kingdom Together”? Our community is waiting to hear from you.
The Lead Pastor will work together with staff, council and lay leaders, ministering to the congregation of Maranatha, providing vision and direction to the church and reaching our community for Christ. Tasks will include preaching and leading worship services, providing leadership with council to staff and congregation, directing and overseeing staff and encouraging outreach and discipleship. (see job description)
The median age of the congregation is 54, the lower end of the boomer generation. We need to grow younger, and part of “Building God’s Kingdom Together” is reaching the millennial generation and younger. As a community we also know and have experienced that Jesus still changes lives, the healing of life’s brokenness and the reality of the Holy Spirit working in and through us. We emphasize discipleship, including dealing with the deep things in our lives that keep us from being able to love God and each other, as we pursue our mission of reaching the lost, restoring the broken, equipping the saints and releasing the workers.
We are looking for a Pastor who can share this journey with us and help to bring us into our full God-given inheritance as a community. We thrive on solid biblical Reformed preaching, led by the Holy Spirit and preached with conviction, relating it in practical ways to everyday life.
Maranatha was formed in 1953 as part of the post-war Dutch immigration, but today over half the people who call it their church home are from non-Dutch, non-CRC background, a shift that began about 20 years ago through the Alpha program at that time.
Thanks to Alpha Holy Spirit weekends and hosting regional Dunamis conferences in the late 1990s, the congregation also grew in knowledge and experience of the Holy Spirit in life, ministry and prayer. Our hearts long to see and experience the Holy Spirit imparting his spiritual gifts in our community, having a church culture that expects the Holy Spirit to move among us.
The church's worship style is praise and worship, blending contemporary songs and traditional hymns but with an emphasis on contemporary worship.
Our facility was built in 2008 and looks and functions like a public building - we rent to many community organizations in an effort to serve our community and build bridges to it. We currently have about 300-350 in worship on a Sunday morning with seating for about 700. Maximum capacity is 1,000.
