Pascack Reformed Church in Park Ridge, NJ, is looking for a full time Pastor / Teacher.
Pascack Reformed Church, now in its third century as a Christian witness in the Pascack Valley in northeast New Jersey (20 miles from Manhattan) is a caring community with an absence of conflict and an ability to accept each other for who we are. The congregation possesses a flexible attitude that allows for experimentation and acceptance of new ideas. We consider ourselves open, welcoming, inclusive, and always available for reasoned discussion.
Our heritage is historic, but our focus is on the here and now. In late 2019, the Consistory spent considerable time and discussion on a major update to our Vision and Mission statement, one that represents who we aspire to be as a congregation and how we will use that identity to grow into the future.
We are a community inspired by love.
We celebrate connection, diversity, nourishment of body & soul,
and living into kindness, compassion and understanding.
Collaborating with the wider community
Providing space for connection
Questioning throughout our learning journey
Stewarding as God’s hands
Then Covid-19 happened, testing the viability of our Vision under conditions of stress. During the pandemic period we have adapted by intensifying our longstanding support of programs to feed the hungry, developing a whole new communication infrastructure and tech capability, and upgrading our short-and-long term financial security. These and other activities are described in the Church Profile and the 2020 Annual Report(s).
Moving into a post-pandemic environment, our congregation will need to face into the challenges and opportunities of post-Covid recovery. Our new Pastor will need to be a strong leader who will motivate and guide us to assume leadership responsibilities ourselves, reach out to current members and be instrumental in bringing new persons and families to Pascack Reformed Church, and to develop a collegial relationship with at least one sister Reformed Church in close proximity to promote joint programs.
