The Worship Director carries out music selection, participates in a collaborative service planning process, oversees the music/production team, and leads the congregation in authentic, spirit-led worship along with the worship team.
Role Qualifications:
- Intentional, authentic relationship with God as well as character that reflects a life rooted in scripture
- Ability to lead and empower volunteers
- Willingness to be a team player and servant leader
- Ability to guide and instruct band members
- Musical competence vocally and instrumentally
- Demonstrated ability to confidently lead the congregation in worship
- Education in music or worship leading and/or 3-5 years of experience is preferred
- Knowledge of Planning Center and ProPresenter is preferred
- Understanding of audio/visual technologies (including digital mixing console) is preferred
Role Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Lead with a spirit of humility and service while continuing to grow spiritually in all aspects of worship
- Create an inviting space for the congregation to respond and reflect in worship
- Participate in collaborative service planning with other staff members and volunteers
- Pursue a balance that honors Evergreen’s current culture while also leaving space for incorporating new ideas
- Lead worship for special services (Good Friday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve) in addition to Sunday mornings
- Schedule guest worship leaders when necessary
Collaboration
- Find ways to involve community members who demonstrate leadership gifts and musical aptitude
- Train and empower music/production volunteers while building community and encouraging teamwork
- Invest in the community and personal relationships with worship team members
- Meet with team members outside of Sunday mornings for extra training or practice as needed
- Prepare the worship team both spiritually and musically during rehearsals to lead worship
Administration
- Choose worship songs that adhere to Scripture and reflect the theology and culture of Evergreen
- Construct and post song set lists in advance that complement the sermon
- Build and import service orders into Planning Center in a timely manner
- Provide music recordings links, chord charts, and any other necessary resources to help musicians practice before Sunday morning
- Create music/production team schedules and communicate regularly with team members
- Oversee the production team and maintenance of audio/visual equipment related to music and worship
Role Accountability:
Day-to-day work is accountable to the lead pastor.

20-25 hours/week
