World Renew Honduras: Sustainable Urban Development Service and Learning Opportunity

Your Journey Starts in Tegucigalpa.....

Welcome to Honduras’s largest city and capital. Home to the country’s leading university and soccer team, Tegucigalpa stands as a source of national pride. But with rising population rates, the city struggles with increased unemployment, water shortages, and crime. Here, the need for just and creative urban planning is felt deeply.

And so here, World Renew is committed to working with local partners to develop just programming and infrastructure.

You will learn from World Renew staff and experience Honduras’ development initiatives first hand, deepening your own knowledge, perspective, and heart for urban planning as well as your understanding of justice in a global context. It’s an unparalleled excursion that promises to shape the trajectory of your life for decades.

Throughout 9 days, volunteers will travel and learn about sustainable urban development through World Renew's local Honduran partner, Ministerios Cristianos de Mayordomia (Stewardship of Christian Ministries). MCM´s programs include home improvement and running water projects; community gardens that increase food stability; income generation for women and girls; and building community capacity through local leaders.

The group will worship with a local church, learn about the urban justice work being done by local leaders, learn about the history and culture of the area and visit local attractions.

World Renew adopts a unique, holistic approach to global development rooted in local partnerships and dedicated to the local church. The result is enduring change informed by community needs. Thanks to the focused and personalized approach of our service learning tours, you’ll experience that work in Honduras firsthand through engagement opportunities you won’t find anywhere else.

Passionate participants looking for a transformative experience of urban development and justice in a global city of high need.
