As our attention turns to World Hunger Sunday, we invite our U.S. churches to consider starting a Growing Project with Growing Hope Globally!

Born out of World Renew/CRWRC, Growing Hope Globally has been helping farmers, churches, and rural communities respond to world hunger for more than 20 years. You can make a lasting difference from right where you live. “I have been blessed by this more than the people we try to help,” said Harley Buys of Bethel CRC in Edgerton MN.

Growing Hope is a Christian non-profit organization that allows those who care about hunger to make a difference. Working in partnership with World Renew and other organizations, sustainable food security programs are implemented in low-income countries around the world. These programs provide smallholder farmers and their families with tools and training to work toward more hopeful futures. Support is raised by community Growing Projects across the United States.

Through Growing Projects, churches, farmers, agribusinesses, and others come together around the common cause of helping people who struggle with hunger. Together they grow crops, raise animals, or do other activities to generate funds. The whole community has the opportunity to get involved. Farmers till the land or raise the animals while businesses, churches, and individuals cover the input and land costs so that, when sold, the entire profit can be used to support the Growing Hope program(s) of their choice. With each one doing their part, the impact is multiplied beyond what any individual could do on their own!

Growing Projects make a positive impact in the lives of those who benefit from the food security programs around the world, but they also make a difference much closer to home as churches—both rural and urban, both CRC and beyond—come together to work on the project, growing their own community as God grows the plants and animals. Participants have the opportunity to learn about and connect with their global neighbors through program updates, success stories, personal visits, and more.
