Many people assume that the healing miracles described in Scripture suggest that disability is a problem to be eradicated. But this assumption is only one way to interpret these passages. Perhaps, the problem was not the disability but the community's isolation of the person with a disability, and the healing restored the person to community. Perhaps, the problem was not the disability but the community's unwillingness to accept that Jesus was the promised Messiah, and the healings confirmed that he was the Messiah. Coming out of the Reformed churches in South Africa, these Bible studies take a fresh approach to the healing miracles.
