The Friendship Festival is an opportunity for everyone to come together for a day of good fun and fellowship. Friends and mentors, parents and volunteers from Friendship Clubs in churches throughout southern Ontario join with friends from area group homes and their caregivers and staff members. Together with festival volunteers, we'll sing and laugh and have fun together, participate in games and different activities and enjoy a delicious lunch.
The goal of the festival is to remind our friends that they are loved by God and by everyone who supports them in their daily lives. Many of our friends live sheltered lives and the festival allows them to meet others and participate in a meaningful activity. The festival also is an opportunity for parents and the dedicated volunteers and mentors of the numerous Friendship Clubs in southern Ontario to meet together and encourage each other in this important work.
Our theme for October 19 is "You Belong!" Our guests for the day are Colleen and Grace and the Unity Band. They'll lead us in singing and share their music with us. Jericka-Lyn Masters will present a dance and our friends from l'Arche Daybreak in Richmond Hill will share their art with us. After lunch, we'll enjoy games and activities, and everyone leaves with a draw prize at the end of the day.
Over the years, God has blessed our festivals with much joy and great friendship. It’s always good to see our friends enjoying themselves and meeting new people. We’re especially thankful for the many volunteers who make the festival a special occasion for everyone who attends. We thank each one of our volunteers for their willing hearts and helping hands. As well, we thank the businesses and individuals who support the festival with their generous donations.
We appreciate everyone's support and encouragement for the Friendship Festival.
