Why I Am a Disability Advocate - Kyle Crist

Because he couldn’t get in the door, safely use the restroom, or access the pulpit, Kyle Crist “decided to become a disability advocate out of necessity.” Kyle felt called to advocate for himself and others because “this is what scripture calls us to do.” With a more accessible facility, other people with disabilities attend the church and all are welcomed as brothers and sisters in Christ.

Kyle shares a story about ministry with Glenn, who started coming to their inclusive bible study groups and shared one day, “I would love to pray … for the group.” Kyle was delighted when Glenn started to be known not as the guy with an intellectual disability but as “the guy who prays and introduces people to Jesus and loves people so deeply.” Listen to Kyle share more of his experience as a disability advocate below.
