Recently, we have heard about a new movie about "The Flood" being produced. From all accounts, it will be quite inaccurate, produced by those who do not regard scripture as accurate. The production of such a movie by non-Christians for general public consumption will still have an influence on the perception of unbelievers and Christians alike on what the story of the flood really is. How do we as Christians get involved in discussions where literalists and "genre-ists" have different views about Genesis 1-11? How do YEC and OEC people examine these issues together? Or must they simply build a big fence between them and turn their backs on one another?
Recently on one of these forums, someone mentioned that many cultures have a "Flood" story, and insinuated that one story is as good as another. What do you think; is this true?
A recent video produced by christianima on YouTube, Episode 12, Season 3, gives some documentary evidence of these different stories, and how they are related (youtube.com/watch?v=wwCSg9MIgQY). You might be surprised how these different stories actually substantiate the veracity of the biblical account.
