Shepherding Elders and Administrative Elders Model?

Hi....we are looking for insights on changing our current model of Elders to shepherding and administrative....looking for feedback from different churches on the pros and cons.

  1. Why was the change made to the Elder model?
  2. What was successful about the Shepherding Elders?
  3. What was successful about the Administrative Elders?
  4. What would your church do differently and why?
  5. What approaches worked or didn't work?
  6. What changes were made to make the model work?

In another church/denomination, I and my husband experienced "shepherding elders".  While my husband was in deteriorating health and eventually passed away (after 14 months), the shepherding elder was very diligent; however, the pastor never called on him.  Given the health circumstances, particularly in the last few months, I was very disappointed in the pastor and it actually led me to seek another church home.
