When I was a kid I made my mom buy Faberge Organics Shampoo after seeing Heather Locklear describing it in a commercial. Heather would hold up the bottle and say, "I told two friends about Faberge Organics shampoo and they told two friends and so on and so on and so on.” As she spoke the screen would divide again, and again, and again as another two friends were added and the news of the fabulous shampoo spread.

Sixteen years ago, a series of children’s Bible storybooks called God Loves Me was published by Faith Alive. Unique because they are written specifically for children aged 2-3 and include ideas for prayer and follow-up activities at home and at church; the books have been much loved and well used in congregations across North America. (There is probably one in your church!) Back then our focus was to provide resources for congregations. It still is. But we also know that the most significant religious influence in the life of a child is their parent, not the church. And the primary place faith is nurtured is at home.

This month the Discipleship and Faith Formation Ministries launched a crowd funding campaign with two goals in mind: to raise enough funds to update the series with many bright, new illustrations and to get the books into the hands of as many parents as possible. To accomplish that goal we are inviting parents, grandparents, congregations, and all those who care about the faith nurture of children to pre-order the books at a deeply discounted price. Each full set of 52 OT-NT books is being offered at just $60 (US) and with free shipping; after the campaign they will be $100 (US) plus shipping.

We need your help. There are less than two weeks left in the campaign. We’re asking each of you to please tell two friends and we’re hoping that they will tell two friends and so on and so on. If you use Facebook, please share this God Loves Me crowd funding page on your Facebook page and tag two friends in your post. Call the grandparents and great-grandparents you know who may not use the Internet and may be unaware of how they can support this project to get the books into the homes of young families. Perhaps one of your two friends might be your pastor and you could invite him or her to consider supporting young families by showing the video during the offering on Sunday or by posting in on the church Facebook page this week.

Please tell two friends today.
