Hallelujah, he is risen! Easter is the day we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and the hope that he brings to our hurting world.

Yet, this Easter feels more challenging than most. It comes at a time when we are instructed to avoid large gatherings as we shelter in our homes. We are likely apart from many of the people that we hold dear. We may worry about the health and safety of those whom we love.

Our Easter season may look different from past years, but the heart of the gospel still remains true. We share the same message of hope that the women carried from the empty tomb to the anxious disciples. “Jesus is alive!” Jesus' resurrection is the truth at the heart of the gospel! And as it brought joy and hope to the hurting and fearful disciples that first Easter it still brings us joy and hope today.

This season reminds us of the lyrics of the Gaither song, Because He Lives: “Because He lives I can face tomorrow,  Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future. And life is worth the living just because He lives.”

We can face uncertain days as we carry with us the truth of Jesus’ resurrection. He conquered sin and death for us. Because he lives and reigns, we do not have to fear. In his death and resurrection, Jesus brought us forgiveness and the promise of eternal life. Jesus did not leave us alone in this challenging world, he sent us the Spirit to be forever with us. The presence of the Spirit transforms our lives and blesses us with peace even amid challenges. The Spirit produces fruit in our lives to bless one another. We pray that the work of the Holy Spirit would be evident in the life of your family and that you would see how the Spirit is transforming our world.

This year at Family Fire we have prepared a special Easter devotional and set of conversational table cards to encourage your family to reflect on how the Holy Spirit is transforming your lives and our world. As you share together, we pray you are encouraged by the glimpses of God’s kingdom being established in our lives and world today. You can download the cards right here.

Our prayer for you in these uncertain days is that the resurrection of Jesus would bring your family joy and hope this Easter and always!
