In 2019, Faith Formation Ministries introduced Everyday Family Faith—a pocket-sized devotional guide for families. FFM regional team members distributed at free copy to CRC churches at as many classis meetings as our team could attend. Since then, this little book has become Faith Alive’s bestselling new title, with more than 3,600 copies sold as of this writing.

Churches are purchasing copies of Everyday Family Faith to encourage their families to spend time with God together. Several CRC churches put together a fun summer bucket to give to families before school lets out, like the one in this post by Karen DeBoer. Others are giving it as Christmas gifts to families.

How might your church use this fun, colorful, thoughtful resource to support families? Here are five other creative ways to share Everyday Family Faith with the families in your church:

  • Make Valentines bags for families with kids. Add a copy of Everyday Family Faith, plus some chocolates and other treats with a note that says “Your church family loves you! Here’s a gift to help you and your family love each other and love God even better this year.”

  • Give the book to families at the beginning of Lent, and invite them to give up some of their daily or weekly media time to make space for more time with God.

  • Create a “Family Time Box” for each family in your church. Include popcorn, a fun card game, a scavenger hunt, a CD (check out Rain for Roots for some amazing Christian music for kids), or other inexpensive items to help families enjoy quality time together. Add in a copy of Everyday Family Faith and God’s Big Story Cards, a family faith formation game/devotional frm Faith Alive.

  • In late spring, give a copy of Everyday Family Faith to families whose kids are “graduating” from your children’s ministry programs. Include an encouraging note about the huge impact parents and caregivers can have on children’s faith when they model faith practices at home.

  • Plan an adult ed session for parents of younger kids in which you talk together about the importance of family faith formation. Show them how to use Everyday Family Faith, and send each family home with a copy. Also introduce them to Dear Parent: A Guide for Family Faith Formation—another very popular seller new in 2019 from FFM and Faith Alive. FFM’s Family Faith Formation toolkit has tons of great resources you can use in planning this session as well.

If you haven’t seen Everyday Family Faith yet, you can order a copy of this great little resource from FaithAliveResources.org for just $10.00US/$13.33CDN. And to help you share this book with families in your church, discounted bulk pricing is available for orders of 10 copies and up.
