"But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself."—John 12:32

Magnets are familiar items. We all know how they have power to attract certain metals. The sun, too, has tremendous magnetism as it continually draws the earth to itself. Only the outward force of earth's orbit prevents us from being drawn into the fiery sun and destroyed. Praise be to our all-wise and all-powerful Creator God!

People tend to scatter because sin separates people from each other. "All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned each one to his own way."—Isaiah 53:6

But when some Greek people approached him, Jesus knew that in order to break down the hostility between Jew and Gentile, he needed to be lifted up on the cross. Jesus saw those Greeks as some of the first-fruits of the worldwide pull of himself by way of his suffering and death. His approaching suffering and death were often on his mind all through his earthly life. To Nicodemus he had spoken similarly when he said, "As Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up (on a cross made of wood)."—John 3:14

Jesus intends to draw all people to himself. Let us help him. In gratitude for what Jesus has done for me, my way is working with the people of Audio Scripture Ministries based in Holland, Michigan as we provide little digital audio Bibles to multitudes of non-readers around the world (AudioScripture.org).

After working on it for more than three years, just before COVID-19 hit, our associates in Bangalore, India, released an app called HUM. The app contains Scripture in about 40 different languages spoken in India and includes English. Those languages were recorded through the years in their studio in Bangalore which was gifted by Frank Kieft of Grand Haven, Michigan in about 1988. Already thousands of people in India who have cell phones, confined to home, are downloading Scripture in their own language and listening when they are not free do much else. Praise the Lord! For more information see their website WCOI.org.
