This past fall, hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria hit the southern US and Puerto Rico, causing severe damage. Thousands of people are still displaced from their homes.

World Renew has launched Operation Ruby Slipper, a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, to encourage teens and young adults to take action and help hurricane survivors get back home.

By teaming up, youth can raise money for those in need by creating and promoting their own fundraising events.

Team leaders can register their teams on our website — myworldrenew.net/rubyslipper — and funds raised will be directed to World Renew Disaster Response Services, specifically for Harvey, Irma, and Maria hurricane response.

The campaign goal is to raise $100,000 by March 9, 2018, to help up to 25 families rebuild their homes. And these gifts will be paired with a gift from a generous donor who has already donated $100,000 as a challenge gift. Any funds raised by March 9 will be doubled, so if the goal of $100,000 is reached, up to 50 families will be able to return home.

You can visit worldrenew.net/UShurricanes to find out what other groups are doing. The energy and enthusiasm your youth and young people bring to events is contagious. Will you encourage your students or youth group to participate?
