What Is Distinctly Christian About Being a Christian Leader?

How do, and how should, my convictions shape the way I lead?

The Leadership Education section of Duke Divinity's web-site has much to offer church leaders in terms of links to resources, training opportunities, and the like. The feature that sets it apart from other similar leadership development sites is the list called "Questions We Answer". There you will find answers to some of the most common and fundamental leadership questions, complete with links to specific resources that will enable you to 'work out' the answer in your particular leadership context. This unique partnering of specific resources to specific questions is a wonderful tool for volunteer leaders, or paid ministry staff, who don't have time to connect the dots themselves. 

Here are some examples of the types of questions for which you can find answers and resources:

• What is distinctly Christian about being a Christian leader? How do my convictions shape the way I lead?
• How can institutions best be kept institutionally strong and focused on their essential missions?
• What can I do to develop as a leader and to develop others as leaders?
• How can I be renewed in the midst of great needs, declining resources and uncertainty about what comes next?
• What’s the best way to give effective feedback to colleagues?
• How do I evaluate our programs? I want to be sure they are in line with our mission and are having the impact we want them to have.
