(This is my review of the book by Kevin DeYoung "Amazed Them With God" published by 10 Publishing. You can read selected quotes from the book here, and to purchase you own copy, click this link.)

So who remembers the book Don’t Call It a Comeback by Kevin DeYoung? I remember it, but it's not something that made an impact on me or others I know. I don't think it made waves or became a bestseller. Nor have some of my Reformed friends ever mentioned or recommended it. It was published in 2011, and the young, the restless, and the Reformed is at its peak.

Amaze Them with God is an excerpt from that book that gets a comeback (no pun intended) to the printers. I think 10 Publishing had not forgotten the 2011 book. It was republished in 2016 under the title Amaze Them With God. What can a republished excerpt deliver? Well nothing but solid biblical stuff!

DeYoung proposes 5 things to consider to win the next generation (whether inside or outside the church). Grab them with passion. Win them with love. Hold them with holiness. Challenge them with truth. Amaze them with God. That’s it! No gimmicks, no fancy stuff. No acting cool. In other words, give them Jesus. It seems simple but as DeYoung unpacks these truths in this very short book, you’ll feel a jolt of lighting. You’ll feel a sort of electricity. That’s how powerful this book is in its focus on bringing this generation to God, not by the next Christian fad but taking them back to Christ.

If you have 15 minutes to spare but want a solid game changer for life (which rarely you will find both in a book), grab Amaze Them With God. This 36 pages of nothing but Jesus will definitely win the next generation. Highly recommended!

My verdict:

5 out of 5
