"And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross!"—Philippians 2:8

In World War One, Private Roger Young threw himself on a live hand grenade and died, but saved alive his friends and fellow soldiers. That act of bravery inspired a song.

What a man! Roger Young!
Fought and died for the men he marched among.
To the everlasting glory of the infantry
Shines the name of a Private Roger Young.

Roger Young followed the pattern of Jesus who absorbed the wrath of God on the cross to save us alive. To see how much God loves us, look at the cross!

To see how much God hates sin, look at the cross!
