How to Turn Readers Into Commenters?

At church this morning, two people separately came up to me and said how much they love The Network. I never get tired of hearing that :-)

But then I asked the question I always ask: "Have you added any comments or questions?"

In both cases, they hadn't. They love reading the discussions, but haven't taken that next step of becoming an active participant. And hey, I know what it's like ... there are so many websites where I read but don't comment.

Fortunately, every day more and more people are joining to become active participants in the conversations we're having here. We're well over 2,000 registered users now.

But we'd love more! So I thought I'd ask all of you ... what does it take to turn a reader into a commenter? What ideas do you have for getting others to join the conversation?
