I sat with three Moms today:

One whose baby had died.

One whose baby is dying.

One whose baby is going to die.

I saw the agony in their eyes of losing, nearly losing,

someone so dear.

I saw the heaviness of their shoulders.

I saw their tears — tears that went down to their soul.

I saw their quiet confidence in their grief

that their little ones ultimately were in God's hands.

They are Moms who love deeply.

They are Moms who don't want to let go.

They are Moms who desperately want to be Moms.

They are Moms whose hopes and dreams

for their precious little ones are gone.

They are Moms who will never forget.

We are a hurting people, God.

Heal us.

Help us, we pray.
