Our Church is looking for a youth pastor/director. Most people serving on this committee have never done the job before. They will hopefully get some elder guidance, but since most churches do not have to search to fill positions very often, it will be precious little.  The problem with that is although they are well-intentioned the bar may be lowered just to fill the slot. I found this piece to be very helpful.  A must-read for every search committee.
