Just over 50 years ago, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. considered this question: in a time of strife, racism, and poverty, what will we choose? Will we choose a way that makes for prosperity and peace for all? Will we loose the chains of injustice? Will we work towards chaos or community?
The next year, MLK was assassinated.
This MLK Day, we gather to meditate on the same question, by the light of the Gospel.
We're grateful to be led in our Gospel reflection by Rev. Jim Wallis of Red Letter Christians and Sojourners and in our musical reflection by talented local worship leaders Maurice Townsend, Kenneth Henderson, Satrina Reid, Emmanuel Phillips, and Nate Glasper.
We hope you'll join us at Millbrook Christian Reformed Church on Monday, January 15 (6:30-8:30 pm).
If any members of your congregation would like to participate in the event by singing in our community choir, they are welcome to contact Kenneth Henderson at [email protected] or 616-245-7791 ext. 210. Rehearsal times will be January 12, 6:30-9 pm and January 15 beginning at 4:30 pm.
