Coming in September: Safe Church Equipping Conference!

We are so excited as plans are coming together and getting finalized for our 2018 Safe Church biennial conference. Our focus will be equipping people (YOU!) for effective safe church ministry.

Safe Church Ministry is all about building communities in every CRC congregation where the value of each person is honored, and people are free to worship and grow free from abuse. Given how many people have experienced abuse, we also work to ensure that wherever abuse has occurred, the response in every CRC congregation and in every classis is compassion and justice that foster healing. Toward that end, we urge every classis to consider sending a few people to the Safe Church biennial conference in September 2018.

Safe Church staff have worked very hard to gather together knowledgeable and inspirational presenters who will facilitate our learning together. A few of them are listed below:

Jared Brock – Cofounder of Hope for the Sold, an abolitionist charity that fights human trafficking one word at a time. Jared has written several books, as well as articles for The Huffington Post, Converge, Esquire, Thought Catalog, and Relevant.

Hilary Scarsella – Director of Theological Integrity for Into Account, and a recognized writer, speaker, and scholar. Her expertise is in the intersections of theology and trauma, especially with respect to sexualized violence. She has served as director of Our Stories Untold, offering a public platform through which survivors of sexualized violence are invited to speak.

Andy Soper – Owner of Five Arrows Consulting, working with multiple projects around the world to ensure that children are protected, honored, and allowed to flourish.

Chris McKenna – Founder of Protect Young Eyes, explaining risks and teaching prevention in order to defend children and youth from online dangers.

Mary Crickmore – Master facilitator with the Trauma Healing Institute Alliance and World Renew staff member.

Mark your calendars now for September 21-22, 2018 at the Prince Conference Center in Grand Rapids. Join us as we spend time re-envisioning, re-connecting, and networking together. Gain wisdom, inspiration, and encouragement from attendees that come from across Canada and the U.S. Bring your ideas, your frustrations, and your needs; come to be nurtured and equipped together!
