In this final webinar of the 2020 Safe Church Webinar Series: we hear from two courageous people who will raise their voices to share with us from their own experience of abuse, we’re calling it “Raising our Voices" and it is our hope we all will be able to raise our voices collectively to share our stories, and also prevent abuse from happening.

Those who have experienced sexual abuse often choose to stay silent about what has happened to them. It may be out of a deep sense of shame, an uncertainty about whether anyone would believe them, and fears or threats about what could happen if abuse was disclosed.

This webinar will feature two courageous people who will raise their voices to share with us from their own experience of abuse, what it was like for them and how the church responded in ways that were helpful, and perhaps sometimes in ways that were unhelpful.

It’s only as we listen and learn from people who know, that we will be able to effectively prevent and also minister effectively with those who have experienced abuse. These are the voices that must be elevated, the words of wisdom that we need to hear. These are our leaders as we move forward in seeking to prevent and respond appropriately to abuse.
