The Synod of the CRC has voiced support for comprehensive immigration reform, part of which is a secure border. Immigration justice requires us to welcome the stranger to a country that is faithful to sound Biblical principles.
The song “The Rebel Jesus” is musically and lyrically powerful. Jesus is a rebel, fighting against the injustice of the system, and striving to end poverty. He is a moral example for all of us to follow! Or...maybe not.
Last Thursday I attended an event at Sherman Street CRC hosted by All One Body. Their goal is to transform the CRC into a denomination that fully accepts and celebrates all aspects of the LGBTQ+ ideology. Here is their strategy.
The best way to do justice is to follow Scripture and pursue actual justice. The CRC can and should get involved in politics, but only within the context of the following three criteria.
Bedtime prayers with my 6 and 3-year-old sons had led to a discussion about Alfie Evans, hope, the value of life, and freedom. Afterward, I reflected on the question: What should the CRC as a denomination be speaking out about?
Does the Bible contain the 2nd Amendment principle, "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed?"
I saw the words "justice" and "equality" on the handouts my six-year-old son had brought home from school. He didn't know what "justice" meant. In truth, many grown-ups also have a hard time defining justice.
Try to think of a single Bible verse that says our words and deeds toward issues of justice should be governed by our emotions.
