What are some of the best resources for leading church members into gift based ministry?

Hi everyone, hoping some of you have experience in dealing with the many resources available regarding gift based ministry. I have been looking over some resources, and since there are so many of them available, I thought I would see if any of you could share with me what you used and what went well etc. I really like the sound of "The,Network: The Right People, The Right Place,The Right Time, For The Right Reason"......have any of you gone through that book/dvd? Thanks, Mark

Best way to mentor?

It seems to me that mentoring is one of the ways that congregations can best disciple each other in these times of disconnection and dislocation. We have several generations in our churches with several generation gaps. Yet we long for a sense of belonging, of unity, of engagement with each other. I have spoken with a few congregations that would like to try this and would benefit greatly from others' experiences.

What mentoring materials or activities do you use with youth and children at your church?

So, we're just beginning with the process of pairing adults and children into mentoring relationships as part of welcoming and guiding them to participate in the Lord's Supper as well as the full ministry life of the church, but we are sorely in need of more options or resources for mentors to draw upon. Currently, the "I Believe" mentoring book from Faith Alive is our only resource for junior high kids...Do you know of others? And what other activities or faith forming events would you recommend besides "going through the book?" Junior-highers are a first priority right now, but the same...

What are some good websites that deal with faith formation?

The Network's Sunday School Guide Joland Howe recenlty blogged about a website she came across as a great website dealing with the topic of Faith Formation and some specifically with children. To quote Jolanda: This website is packed with research, ideas, web links and recommended resources for children, teens, young adult, adult, family ministry. So check out the Faith Formation Learning Exchange website and the specific resources Jolanda mentioned . Also are there any other good websites out there?

Never-Ending Formation

What led us to buy into the myth that most formation happens early? Who sold us the story that formation isn’t life-long? And how would our ministries and our energies be redirected if we really adopted the life-long viewpoint?

Learning From the Past

We just finished using Esther DeWaal's Seeking God. It's a fine introduction to the Rule of Benedict. And why Benedict? Toynbee calls the Rule the "mustard seed of western civilization," and it's not hard to see why.
