Pastor Connections on Sunday

I don't want to be insensitive but often on Sundays the same few people seem to "corner" the pastor and "tie" him up for several minutes. Suggestions on how to address this?

Access to Sermon DVDs?

Does anyone have access to appropriate sermons on DVD which could be used in an emergency if the pastor or guest pastor is suddenly unavailable?

Affirming Baptism Liturgy?

Does anyone have a meaningful and simple "affirming baptism" liturgy that one can use for an adult who wishes to public acknowledge and affirm their infant baptism?

Have you ever had a person ask you to re-baptize her, and how did you respond?

I just finished leading a discipleship class with some senior high students. I thank the Lord for the way he blessed this class! On the last meeting, I invited students to publicly profess their faith and/or be baptized. Happily, one young lady expressed her desire to follow Jesus and be re-baptized . She was baptized as an infant, and sincerely wants to become a devoted student of Christ. But she feels that in order to do that, she must be re-baptized. I encouraged her to talk to her parents about this matter (her dad is an elder in our church), and then we would chat further about it. Have...

How have you combined profession of faith with baptism?

I have a joyful opportunity to celebrate a woman's public profession of faith and baptism. In the same service she, along with her husband, will be baptizing their children. I am looking for a way to combine these without repeating or making it awkward. Have you found a way to do this? How can I incorporate the profession of faith and baptisms. Since the questions are basically the same it should work right?

Does anyone have a council spiritual retreat program that we could borrow?

I'm delighted that our church council will go on a spiritual retreat this spring--thanks be to God! I think this is a significant step for us as a leadership team as we week to play and pray together and dream God's dreams for our church. However, we've never done this before, so I'm wondering if anyone has a program our outline that we could borrow as we design our own retreat plan.

Scholarships for college bound children of pastors (specifically US citizens serving in Canada)?

We are US citizens currently serving in Ontario. My daughter is hoping to attend Redeemer next fall in Ontario. The search for scholarships has been tricky. Many of the scholarships mention "Canadian residence" but my daughter's status is "temporary visitor", so she doesn't qualify. Beyond applying for Redeemer scholarships and or student loans -- -- I'd appreciate any wisdom sharing from pastor's families who have experienced a similar situation or have found creative solutions.
