As one delegate at Synod 2008 stated, in comparing ministry associates with ministers of the Word, they are “equal in function, but differ in honor”. What does this mean for the church today, in particular, with regard to the office of ministry associates? Allow me to make a few propositions that invite reaction.

Ministry Associate Rod Hugen had Synod 2010 delegates in stitches when he read his poem. It was performed at the dinner honoring Calvin College and Seminary retirees including Henry DeMoor. With Rod's permission, here's the full text for your reading pleasure.
Bible studies and discussion groups have their place, but in the context of the worship service, the authoritative Word of God (yes, from a pulpit) cannot be replaced by a discussion, however insightful. I would like a discussion on this topic. Maybe there is something I have overlooked.
I have gone 15 times to Moscow to teach at a Bible College that was under Campus Crusades umbrella. I will most likely be heading there again to teach Gen - Deut (Oct. 18-29, 2010). I would love to see other colleagues of mine consider this 2 week teaching mission.
