I have spoken with a few congregations that would like to try this and would benefit greatly from others' experiences.
We have a woman who will be baptized as a new believer soon, and she has a son in grade 2. While it is clear that the mother shall be baptized we need wisdom with respect to the son.
I was approached about conducting a profession of faith class for a young adult who is a baptized member of a neighboring church. We wondered what happens to his "professing membership" once he makes public profession of faith in our congregation?
There has been much discussion about what age to begin this process (grade 3) and the resources that should be offered to children and parents as preparation, but what about the older baptized member?
As a committee, we are looking for a book or devotional to read together and help center our focus on our purpose: Faith Formation of our church community.
My church is considering expanding our youth service learning trip to include adults and families. How should/would we fundraise differently for an intergen trip than a youth trip?
I recently got into a discussion that could probably be boiled down to "Why does the church's theology matter? Both churches [profess the creeds] so who cares what they believe past that."
Does anyone have suggestions for resources that can be used for helping children/youth prepare for baptism?
Is their a guideline regarding voting at congregational meetings if someone is a professing member and is under the age of 18?
It's Ministry Question Monday and we're excited to share with you the FIRST featured ministry question! Now that we have the question, let's start the discussion.
I am a faithful member of a local church, but I love listening to sermons online throughout the week. What are some of the churches you listen to online, get fed from?
Do you have a favorite Bible app? Willing to share? I'm looking to purchase a study version that would also supply historically accurate maps, as well as cross-reference information.
If love is the fulfillment of everything and keeps us from sin—and we are to fear no evil and love our enemies—would we love the devil being our enemy?
I am taking a doctrine and theology class and some of the teachings are raising questions in my reformed faith. I'm wondering, at what do point do we receive the Holy Spirit and what is the primary purpose of the Spirit?
I'm looking to purchase a new compact Bible and wonder what version most CRC pastors are using. I see the TNIV, ESV, and NLT have all been approved in the last 11 years.
I am looking for a devotion to use for our upcoming congregational meeting that will emphasis sharing about how we have experienced God in our day to day lives. Any ideas?
I'm attending a CRC in Oregon and was wondering if there are any opinions on the book “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young? Does the CRC have any position on this book?
I am looking for a devotional (with scripture references) that our family can use to spark discussion and bring God into our dinner or bedtime conversations. Any ideas?
I'm looking for recommendations for a small group study. I'm looking for a variety of topics that range from a three-week to ten-week series. Nothing too intimidating for a lay leader.
Is your church working on developing a comprehensive faith formation plan for children and youth? We'd love to hear from you!
