How does a church run a healing prayer ministry?

Hi folks, Anybody running a healing prayer ministry? What does it look like? How do you operate? At New Life CRC in Guelph, Ontario we've had a Healing Prayer Ministry since about 2005. We've slowly evolved our focus. Today the ministry has two primary focus: 1. Intercessory prayer for the church 2. How does a church plan a "Coming Home" service?

Hi folks, Our church, together with a couple others in our area, are beginning to plan a "coming home" prayer service. The main impetus for this is that a young person in our congregation ran away from home over the summer, and her parents still can't find her. So, the service is first of all a time to come together to pray for this family, and to pray that this teenager would come home. But we also decided to expand the service to include prayer for people we love who need to "come home" in other ways, too: those who have strayed from the faith, those who are in estranged relationships, etc...

Where can I find information about a Classis Prayer Coordinator?

Classis Yellowstone's Prayer Coordinator retired, and as Stated Clerk I am attempting to encourage another individual to take up the task. Now as I begin to reacquaint myself with the Prayer Coordinator ministry, I have be browsing the CRCNA & Home Mission's webpages for more information. Classis Renewal has been a good source in the past, but I hesitate to refer anyone to that website since it boldly proclaims- " This section of our site is being retired, and information may be dated... " Now that really is not good " marketing " for someone who is thinking or planning to get involved...

Do you know of specific CRC churches that would be considered "houses of prayer?"

Over the last couple of months several people have asked me, "Do you know of some Christian Reformed Churches that would be considered 'Houses of Prayer' or 'Churches Dedicated to Prayer?'" I know a few, but since my knowledge of every individual congregation is limited, I am sure there are numerous churches with a vibrant commitment to prayer and prayer ministry I am not aware of. What is listening prayer?

ok, with the intro at Synod (Tues pm1 @ about 37 minutes in) to our new home missions director, Moses Chung, I want to raise some questions on listening prayer. How much do we do listening prayer in corporate/communal settings? In the intro, Brother James, pres. of home missions, said, " God spoke to us and said, "This is the person..." Now I know the scriptures do not say, "In 2011, the CRC Home Missions will appoint Moses for their director". So, how did they "hear Him? What suggestions do you have for a church prayer retreat?

One of the goals for our church in this coming year is to have a prayer retreat. I led one a couple of years ago, but I'd like to hear what other churches have done. If your church has had a prayer retreat what was the format? Was it one day or a weekend? Was it on your church campus or off site? What did you use for materials? Any other thoughts or suggestions? Can you share your church's experience with "Strategic Prayer Initiative?"

Does anyone have experience with Strategic Prayer Initiative ? It was developed through Harvest Prayer Ministries (a group that CRC'er Al VanderGriend is on staff with). My church is considering it as a more systematic approach to our prayer ministry. But we'd really love to hear from churches who have checked it out or tried it. Anyone?
