Lent Worship Resources 2021

There will be more resources coming so keep checking back for more in the coming days/weeks.  If your church is doing something that you think might be able to be used in a broader context, please email your work to [email protected]. Stay tuned for more!

Ash Wednesday Liturgies

Ash Wednesday is February 17 this year. We recognize that many churches are in flux and leaders are unsure if they will be in-person or virtual for this Lenten season. For those who regularly worship on Ash Wednesday, here are a few resources that can be adaptable for both:

Roundtable Notes

On January 12, a small group gathered for a roundtable Lent planning conversation.  Here are the Lent planning notes from that meeting (which include ideas for Ash Wednesday, Lent, and much more).

COVID One Year Resources

As we approach the one-year anniversary of when our churches were directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are putting together a resource folder with prayers, liturgies, and ways to acknowledge and mark this anniversary in our worship. If you have something you would like to submit to this folder, please email [email protected]

Let's Discuss…

We love your comments! Thanks for your help upholding the Community Guidelines to make this an encouraging and respectful community for everyone.

We used the advent family devotional from this publisher and found it worked really well. https://store.illustratedministry.com/collections/family-resources/Devot...

Because it is digital people could print it at home if they weren't able to receive a drop off at home and we added a bunch of pieces to encourage giving (world renew) and engaging with the community (Christmas cards to write to a Neighbour). We usually do an Ash Wednesday service so I will be including ashes in the Lenten kits, as well as a recipe for homemade pancakes and devotion to go with it. We will also do a Tennabrae service on Maundy Thursday via zoom where people will be invited to light a candle in view of the screen and as they do a reading snuff it out until the screen is dark. We'll do a Good Friday and Easter service as well. More plans to come, but I thought I'd share what I have so far.
